On Sunday there was a piece of news that got me buzzing with excitement! Kendrick Lamar, one of my all-time favourite live performers, is set to headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Kendrick Lamar perform twice, and both times, he blew me away with his incredible creative direction and raw energy. His performances are nothing short of spectacular, and I’ve always been in awe of how he brings his music to life on stage.
Here’s why I’m particularly excited about this announcement:
- Unmatched artistic vision: Kendrick Lamar is a once-in-a-generation artist whose influence extends far beyond music. His ability to blend powerful lyrics with groundbreaking creative direction makes his live shows truly unforgettable. This Super Bowl Halftime Show is going to be a celebration of hip-hop at its finest, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.
- A star-studded collaboration: The Super Bowl Halftime Show will be produced by DPS, with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins as executive producers, and Hamish Hamilton directing. This team has delivered some of the most memorable halftime performances in recent years, and I’m confident that Kendrick’s show will be no exception. With pgLang handling the creative direction, we’re in for a visually stunning and innovative performance.
- A tradition of excellence: Apple Music’s partnership with the NFL and Roc Nation has already brought us some of the most iconic halftime shows in history. From Usher’s record-breaking performance to Rihanna’s Emmy-winning set, and let’s not forget seeing Dre, Snoop, Eminem, 50Cent, and Mary J. Blige all take the stage back in LA—each show has set new standards for excellence. Kendrick Lamar’s performance will undoubtedly continue this tradition, offering fans an unforgettable experience.
- I’m so damn excited: Seeing Kendrick Lamar live has always been a highlight for me, and knowing that he’ll be performing at the Super Bowl makes me even more excited. His music has been a huge part of my recent years, and this performance is going to be a celebration of his incredible talent and influence.
So mark your calendars for February 9, 2025, and get ready for what promises to be an electrifying halftime show.
